The Sacrament of Baptism is the gateway to the Christian life.
It is the first Sacrament of Initiation and the foundation upon which all the other sacraments depend. Through water and the Holy Spirit, a person is cleansed
from all sin, most especially Original Sin, and is reborn as a child of God into the new life of Christ in the Church.
In our parish, Baptisms are generally celebrated after Sunday Mass:
Saint Elizabeth of Hungary - 9:15 a.m.
(after the 8 a.m. Sunday Mass)
Saint Thomas a' Becket - 10:15 a.m.
(after the 9 a.m. Sunday Mass)
Holy Spirit - at 12:15 p.m.
(after the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass)
Saint Clare of Assisi - at 12:45 p.m.
(the priest who celebrates the 9 a.m. Mass at Saint Clare typically celebrates Mass at Holy Spirit afterwards. Therefore, the Baptisms at Saint Clare take place after the Mass at Holy Spirit).
A Baptismal Preparation class is
required for parents before the Baptism of their first child. Parents should wait before selecting Godparents until they learn of the requirements of the role as it is explained at the Pre-Baptism class.
Please contact the parish office at
412-655-2885 to make arrangements
for your child’s Baptism at least three months in advance of your intended date.
